| FEMA Trailers coming |
admin writes, "by Joe Morey: According to TGB Secretary-Treasurer Brian Bisonette, the 12 FEMA trailers will be relocated to LCO beginning on Monday, November 3, from their current location in Hope, Arkansas and Texarkana, TX. Bisonette said that the moving of the trailers was originally estimated to cost $7,500 each, but that the tribe found a contractor to move them at a cost of $6,521 each. "

“For now we’ll keep them in a safe and secure place for the winter where they will be maintained,” Bisonette said. “We don’t need them vandalized after all that we’ve gone though to get them here.” He said they would have to have someone also shovel the roofs off if we should get a heavy snowfall. A source revealed that one possible location could be near the casino where there would be someone to maintain them and surveillance camera’s could watch over them. Bisonette said that the governing board hasn’t decided on where to locate them yet. In addition, they still haven’t decided how the trailers will be distributed. “My motivation was to go after them, do what I can and then get them here and we’re almost to that point,” Bisonette said. “Then it will be up to the governing board to decide how to proceed.” Bisonette said that an ad hoc committee was established to address the housing problem on the reservation and that several options were presented to the council. “They haven’t decided anything and they tabled it,” Bisonette said.
